Yup, nothing weird about it. In fact, if you're getting a bunch of shots, you'll probably be glad you did. Your arm would kill if you got a bunch of shots in it. You can't see them stick the needle in, either. Besides, you don't appear to be a shy girl, so I'm sure you don't mind baring your back side.

Depending on the content in the syringe, there are specific ways to deliver the shot. Like insulin--it has to be injected under the skin. Some shots have to go into the vein, while others have to be administered into the muscle. The butt muscle is the largest and doesn't take to pain like an arm or thigh muscle.

I'd say maybe the doctor knows best.

I remember getting them as a kid all the time. To my surprise, I got another one when I was an adult (I thought they didn't do this anymore). I asked the doctor why and it is because the substance gets into the bloodstream quicker than a shot in the arm.

If your doctor is giving your shots - that's unusual.
Certain medications have to be given deep IM or Z-tract, neither of these can be given in the arm as there isn't enough muscle.

It's NOT necessary to allow this if you prefer not to have injections in the buttocks...an intramuscular injection can be given in the upper arm...insist on it
