It rained for 40 days and 40 nights. The 150 days, says in Gen.7:24 the waters prevailed 150 days which means that it existed everywhere.
Gen.7:11 and 12 the rains begin. In the 600th year, 2nd month, and 17th day of Noah's life.
Gen.8:13-16 The waters were dried up and God calls Noah to leave the ark. In the 601st year,2nd month, and 27th day of Noah's life.
The time from the day the rains started until the time God calls Noah to leave the ark was 1 year and 10 days.

Tough question. Genesis seems to give two different accounts of this. I'm currently writing a book about Noah's Ark and the "worldwide flood." But anyway, I'm guessing that most Christians will claim that the floodwaters came for 40 days, the water stayed 150 days, then God made the water recede and it did so (for some other length of time).

7 Days after entering the ark, God closed the doors to the ark and the rain began. It rained for 40 days and 40 nights. The Bible says "And the waters continued overwhelming the earth a hundred and fifty days" at Genesis 7:24. So, it rained for 40 days. The earth was overwhelmed by the waters for 150 days so to me that means that it took 110 days for the waters to dry up enough that the earth was no longer considered 'overwhelmed'.
Hope this helps!

Well, by the Book, the rain and rising waters lasted 40 days and nights, but then the waters didn't subside until the 150 day mark. So it took flood took 40 days & nights to reach its maximun level and then 150 days to subside enough for the dove to find dry land.

it rained for fourty days and nights before the ark was floating off the ground. the waters rose until the wters rse to fifteen cubits aboe the higest mountians.the waters mantained this level for 150 days.then god stopped the rain and the waters started to subside. it apearenly took seven months and seventeen days before the waters had fallen enough for the ark to come to rest on the mountains of ararat. it took another ten months before mountian tops to appear. and noah waited another fourty days before opening a window inthe ark to let a raven out which came back finding no place to rest. then releasted a dove which came back for the same reason.after seven days noah released the dove again. in the evening it returned with a fresh olive branch in its beak. noah released the dove again after another seven days and it did not return.it took another period of time when noah was601 yrs old,in the first month and on the first day ,that the waters began drying up. in the second month,on the seventh day the earth was dry .

It rained 40 days and 40 nights, but it took a long time for the water to go down enough for them to leave the art, even after the rain stopped.
