I bought a 1972 VW Bug for my son to drive to college. I am very disappointed in the mileage. A Honda or Toyota would have gotten much better mileage and had a lot more power.
The air cooled engines of the old VW's can not compete with the newer water cooled engines.

They are very dangerous to use because it is technology from the 50's. Try ebay, but only as a collector item, not as an everyday car.
