People who are bright enough to see the reason in science aren't demagogues, anyway.

Demagogue: emotive dictator; a political leader who gains power by appealing to people’s emotions and prejudices rather than their rationality

That would apply more to Christians than to scientists. Christians use the all too familiar "YOU'RE GOING TO HELL LOLZ!!!" to scare people into joining their ridiculous dogma. Scientists just lay out rational facts.

Asshat.

Scientists just lay out rational facts? Bugger me, I'm a scientist and some of the incomprehensible ravings from my colleagues are nothing like rational. I always thought 1 plus 2 would equal 3, but some cases I have seen scientists conclude that 1 plus 2 equals 5 and then go on to build a whole theory on this false premise, mainly 'cos it got them more funding!!! Unfortunately there is far too much politics in science. This not only applies to fund raising, through to rushing products too early into the market to recoup some of the high research costs, but also to not having a theory which contradicts the life long theories held by your Professor - you might be right but it is scientific suicide to go public with it.

I could fill pages and pages with lists of scientific crap that currently passes for fact.

"We have never used a toad gene in strawberries. We artificially sequenced the gene in the lab. It is exactly the same as the toad gene but we did not take it out of a toad, so it is not a toad gene." Yea Right. Rational science there.

If you think science is rational, you need to get out more

the fact is: if you are sinning and know you are doing wrong, and refuse to be sorry for what you are doing and accept Christ as your personal saviour, then you are going to hell! it's true, and many people really don't like to hear the truth: that's another fact for ya!

maybe some Christians do use the phrase you mentioned too brashly, but it might just be that they get frustrated beacuse they are trying to help someone who is not listening. it's like trying to tell a blind person that if they don't get out of the road now, they're going to get killed by an oncomng car, but the blind person refuses to believe and is staying in the road anyway! try to empathise.

what?the?hell? is the problem here? do you just want people to tell that you are right in your opinions??? okay well, then go hang with the rest of the people who are so closed minded who can only believe in one way but not many ways, and you should feel right at home.
