If religion is about visions .. shouldn't we collectively be visualising this and politically and spiritually demanding it .. We have the engineering minds ... We have MIT graduates every year .. but they go to work for lockheed to build a new unmanned vehicle(predator drone) to deliver destructive weapons systems .. "tactical to practical" has become the mantra of the trickle down of research to the public sector's eventual benefits .. But why not "practical" first .. Oil moguls have much at stake .. so much for them to gain by the petroleum tap slowly going dry .. and the profitable shortages and wars ...
The technology is discovered! .. No dirty greenhouse byproducts in burning pure hydrogen from hydrogencell technology .. but terrestially gleaning it from natural gas is a big greenhouse emitter (sorry you who misassume it can be derived from ocean water-you are mistaken)..
So where is abundant pure hydrogen to be had? .. In space all around us ... Just need a strong space

to start tanking in down .. Shouldn't the priority of Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus , Bhuddhists and all others be .. to stop our politicians catering to the oil and arms magnates .. and get us clean energy now!

Why can't stepping into space peacefully to harness resources become tghe priorities of our industries rather than weapons production .. and dirty petrochemical burning for an energy consumption we simply will not wean from?

Upallnite- so I suppose you never heard of Physicists creating a sanctified environs for a particle collision.. well it happens .. they want to help fellow humans .. their unorthodox conceptions of deity I suppose do not live up to the destruction and vindication you want from a god ..

very good alnitaka.. and truly on trak .. but pure hydrogen is in space my friend .. and all around us ..

Religious folks .. so sorry to upset you .. Isee something that could heal earth's environment .. and prioritizes us out of weapons and war- and towards being custodial to earth just seems so offensive to many of you .. keep "religion" out of clean energy- anbsurd!

So far alnitaka has a smooth lead though.. reading im a few times- I feel he may even be affirming that the hydrogen is attainable there in space .. but still- this isn't a chemistry oriented question .. doesn't anyone see the "spirituality" that could be so inherent to this question?.. what is more sacred than the continuation of our planet and life? ... anyone?

2006-09-03 21:54:18 · update #9

re phyllis n: admirable honesty .. well for me "the 100th monkey" is a good example about spreading innovative ideas ..
Personally I believe engineering minds like "alnitaka" above need to see the potentialities .. secondly because we are what we are "socioeconomically" .. financiers will simply need to see the "capital" potentials of such a transformation, to the point of overwhelming the vested interests that would like to keep it as is to our collective ruin .. Ideas are "contageous" tho, and there is always hope.. however fashionable ansgt and nihilism become(they are a few centuries old now)... hope exists nonetheless ...

Unfortunately, hydrogen does not exist on this planet, or not at least like oil does. Most of the hydrogen that the Earth ever had escaped because Earth's gravity can't hold it. Almost all the hydrogen on the Earth is in the oceans as part of H2O. It is going to be hard to set up a system of using hydrogen, but it probably can be done. Solar-powered electrolysis plants take the hydrogen out of water. Then the hydrogen can be used as fuel. A problem with this is that hydrogen's molecule is so small that it is hard to find a container to hold it. We may have to weight it down with a bigger molecule, such as carbon atoms, each of which can hold onto 4 hydrogens. But guess what? This is natural gas. We do have a dwindling supply of that, but I suppose electrolysis combined with carbon could produce synthetic natural gas, which is then used as a fuel.

We need to do this as we are running out of oil and other fossil fuels. But it is not going to be easy.

particular Sister, the question is physically powerful. maximum folk of spirituality of in the present day is self delight. inspect what number non secular communities and experts we've.. Have we asked the question why?.. it fairly is the incompleteness of someone which yet is going after Ego delight, even though if for "bigger SELF". have you ever see, a mature guy or woman is on my own (not lonely). A mature guy or woman is time-honored with of what to do. it rather is the version of human beings who come from the previous and modern-day incompleteness. Sister, look, an incomplete guy or woman is emotional, have you ever see that. he or she is going after bliss, to discover some style of happiness someplace, in some meditation or praying... and whilst it does not discover it rather is caught in words, it is, thoughts. Sister, humanity is in a time that this element referred to as emotion or spirituality has come to an end, even though if a lot of human beings are yet after them. now may be the time to UNITE, hand in hand. A united guy or woman is previous any spirituality or faith. That entity is a factor of a journey of the skies not of the floor, although he or she is right here for helping others on that way. This team of people is particularly small now even though it is going to be larger in a particular to destiny. Wishing to have been a help on the question. From the team spirit

Please don't bring the religious into this process, or we will never make any advancements. Remember we are dealing with people who believe in talking bushes, and that Jesus could do magic tricks. Need I go on? Clean energy now will never catch on until Americans are all dead. Why? Because we want the same plastic spatula we bought at Wal*Mart last week, but this week we want it for .89 cents less. We are too stupid to see the link between low balling prices of consumer goods, and the huge pollution problem it causes. So instead of paying more for the product so it can be produced in the U.S., or someplace where there are restrictions on what can be done to the environment, we want to pay less. So the companies turn to China, and Turdjikiskazakastanaman to make the products because they can make the product, and hide the damage, and no one goes to jail.

Clean energy now is a demand, not a question.
Why don't we have clean energy now?
There are some very powerful people who will need to ask THEMSELVES some tough spiritual questions before the world is freed from its slavish oil-dependency. And the spiritual question for them isn't how to get clean energy. They already know.

If you can invoke a deity why not ask for perpetual energy? You are selling the concept of god a little short. IMO
