The medicine should not and probably is not the cause of the depression. look for another reason. Drugs do affect people different from time to time. There are several different steroids. the ones I took gave me absolutely no problem. Didn't notice anything except the pain did go away after a while and has not returned.

The pain you're suffering may be the cause of the depression. Don't get upset about crying. It's probably because you're in pain and not getting any immediate help . While I had cortisone shots for neck and shoulder pain, they did not relieve the pain. so not every medicine works for everyone. You may need something different, as I did, but, you should give it a few days to see if you get any relief and if not get back to the doctor.
I feel your pain. (Forgive me, I just couldn't resist saying that.)
Good luck and I hope you get some relief soon.

Steroids are great for reducing inflammation and swelling. However, depression and mood changes are common side effects. The mood changes don't always come as depression. Steroids can make you feel euphoric or tense and antsy. However, the depression is a normal effect.

Note: If you have sustained severe depression and/or think of hurting yourself, DEFINITELY contact your doctor.

Hope this helps.
