I don't really. I think websites like that attract the wrong element for me to feel confortable. I have my beliefs and very rarely do I find someone who shares those same beliefs. You're right, though, the web sites are less about discussing your own beliefs and focusing on why other beliefs are misguided. It seems to me that a lot of the people on there are indeed bitter about religion in general, and offer nothing to discussions of atheism.

I've never seen nor heard of an "atheist website". What the heck's that all about? And what's an "atheist gathering"? Never heard of those either. There are several skeptic's online presences, but they're not devoted to atheist thought. They do investigate claims of the paranormal, and if a religious person or organization makes a claim that they would have us believe is backed up by science, then that'll be investigated too. If the claim is found to have no merit, the skeptics will say so publicly. That's not the same as denying religion, by the way.

I post in the forums at infidelguy.com, and yeah, some of the people there are bitter, but it's toward the Xian fundamentalists that are trying to tell us how to live our lives, rather than being bitter at an imaginary sky-daddy that we don't believe even exists.
Most of the people there have looked for evidence of a god, and found none. They've asked themselves if god is all powerful, all knowing, and all loving, why do bad things happen to the innocent? For example: what possible plan of a loving god could necessitate the murder of an innocent 5 year old girl?
We do resent the dehumanizing of freethinkers by the religious fundamentalists, we resent that the first President Bush thinks we shouldn't be considered Americans, and we resent that the fundamentalists are trying to force us to live our lives according to a bronze-age mythology.

I've never been to an atheist meeting. Atheism is a lack of believe in gods, what is the point of meetings? That's like having a 'we don't like broccoli' meeting. What do you hope to accomplish? There are some fine secular groups that are fighting for many causes. Try a search for secular humanist, and perhaps something will spark your interest.

I don't participate in atheist gatherings or go to atheist meetings. I don't visit atheist websites. Such behaviour would be similar to gathering with people who don't believe in Santa Claus to discuss not believing in Santa Claus. What would be the point?

No I'm not really that involved in atheism. I just don't believe in God but I don't let it run my life.
Just wonderin: Feel free to send me an email and make my acquaintance. I am very happy with my life.

That's because the honest, true, athiest doesn't exist anywhere.
The professing athiest is the same as every other unbeliever. It's not that they don't believe in the possibility of God like they claim, they just love their sin so much that they don't want to accept that there is a higher being to which they will one day give an account of their lives like the Bible says. Deep in their hearts they know this, which is why they are bitter.
There are no unbelievers in Hell either; They just believed one moment too late.
Rev 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is [the book] of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Joh 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
Isa 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Hope you make the right decision my friend before it is too late for YOU!

No, I don't. I just don't believe in god. That's too much energy spent on such a ridiculous notion for me! Have a good one!
