It asked whether Christians would want the religion to become nationalized, and I did not see any Christian who would want religion forced on anyone, because Christians understand it's free will.
Now if we abolished Christianity and all other religions, would that not make Atheism the dominant religion and thus would be a forced religion?

Reverenceofme....are you serious that you think an athestic society would be a good thing. Then take a look at China and the former Soviet Union. People in countries where religion was abolished will just go into hiding with their beliefs. You cannot eliminate faith even if you make a religion illegal.

Atheism is neither religious nor non-religious, it is simply a stance on the possibility of a personality being in charge of everything.
Now to address your main point. As long as God is on the money, in the pledge of allegiance, etc.; as long as there are "blue" laws that forbid the selling of alcohol on sundays; as long as there are states that forbid atheists from holding public office (there are still 7); as long as there are Bibles in court; as long as Presidents can stand by campain statements like " ...I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God." (1) one form of religion (theism, with strong Christian overtones) is being nationally established over others. Federal money is given to organizations that will not let an atheist join (for example, the Boy Scouts), and to religious organizations as "social work groups".. This is why Atheists and Agnostics are interested in religion, because it is eroding our constitution.

Most Christians are reasonable and actually do want to let people live their own lives. But there is a minority that would love to have Christianity nationalized; making America, in effect, a theocracy.
Unfortunately, this minority is also the most vocal and active.
Oh, and yes.. atheism is technically a religion. You have to choose to believe in the non-existence of the supernatural. And no religion should be abolished forcibly. But I do think it would be nice if some of them actually died off on their own...

I am a christian and I agree with your leading answer, I don't force my religion on anyone, and it does make sense what your saying, although the jehovah's witnesses always go door to door, which is kinda like forcing isn't it? well I agree with you 100%, the world isn't perfect, and if we abolished all religions, people would still complain that there wasn't originality or something. Whenever something does or doesn't happen, people always complain.

There are plenty of Christians who want the Bible to be law. Most of them aren't smart enough to even turn on a computer though so you wouldn't see their responses to the prior question.

Atheism is not a religion..There are no creeds, no rules and no dogma. Atheism is simply the lack of belief in Deity's. Calling atheism a religion is like calling bald a hair color.

Atheism is the natural belief of humans who have not been introduced to the god theory. Infants are atheists, as are people who live in cultures without a god theory ever having been presented. Why would a dominantly atheist society be bad? It is the natural state of human beliefs. Atheism is not a religion, by the way, how could it be?

You cannot abolish "religion". That's like trying to abolish "unhappy". "Religion" is merely a concept, and a grouping of similar ideas. Most people I know (myself included) who would wish to see religion abolished aren't talking about personal faith, but about religious institutions (such as the Catholic Church).

I don't care much for religion, but i sure don't want to abolish it. people have a right to believe in things, no matter how crazy they seem.
abolishing religion would go against everything this country stands for.

I don't want religion abolished but I believe we should supress the broadcasting of religion stop advertsing it everywhere because that just leads to problems your religion is a private affair and it should not be shown to those that don't want to see it

It would be impossible to abolish any religion (and not quite ethical either...), people are going to believe what they believe. And atheism is not religion...atheism is the letting go of religion.
