Please help! How should I approach a guy?

I am really shy most of the time. This cute guy sits on the other side of the room, and i have no idea how to get to know him! I can't just walk to him at the beginning of class-i guess i can. it'll be awkward, though.

Any tips on how to approach him? and when?

I think when you walk to her in the class, it is too awkward. I think better try to make a chance out of classroom. May be on the way out, canteen, or out of school. There will be more chance if you follow him around. I think that will be a good start.
