Life gets us all down from time to time and we all need to relax and refresh. How do you choose to do so?
I prefer an Hour of Adoration, a walk alone in the woods, and sometimes just listening to music in the dark , lit by a candle. These are my ways.
Peace Be With You,
Debra

My favorite way is to run a bath of water that is as hot as I can comfortably take it. Then I add sandalwood and/or frankincense to the water. Light a candle or three and play Celtic music while I soak and meditate.

Other ways for me to wind down and feel better include walks in a wooded area. A swim in a lake. Just sitting at my alter and meditating.

The rosary! Nothing calms me down quicker than the rosary. I also like to walk at the nearby state parks. It's just beautiful this time of the year! I've also gone to Church to light a candle. Sometimes just being at my place of worship alone with God is enough to soothe the soul.

Never been to Adoration though. Am hoping to get there one night...one night I'll have hubby babysit :-)

You sound like me. Those would be my desires if I had time to do those things to relax. I take a hot bath. I have kids so it's my alone time and I do talk with the Lord and reflect then. I also do it at night before I go to bed and just sit in the presence of our Lord. Just being with him is centering enough. I mean being with him in quietness, because I know he is always with us.

I do a grounding meditation. Where I draw my consciousness in to the center of my head. While keeping this focus i breath gently 3-4 times, keeping aware of what is moving or not moving as I breath. then I increase my breaths sending "aliveness" into my feet, feeling them on the floor, the whole while keeping my consciousness centered in my head...Then increase my breath as far down my spine as possible. Last I focus on my 1 chakra (women focus on the second) and "see" or visualize a tube of light attaching to that chakra, and then see it travel deep in to the earth through the layers of rock, past the lava, and into the magnetic core, and anchor there. This helps me "stay in my day"

I spend time doing something mindless...like answering questions here on YAHOO! ANSWERS.

That is an honest answer. When I feel stressed or down on myself, I will do something that is totally mindless, stupid, takes absolutely no thought.

BTW...Is it really listening to music in the DARK if you light a candle??

I like times of nothing... I used to get down on myself for not getting centered and then realized that made it into an activity. I used to get down if I missed it, then I realized its not a religion. It is going back to the natural me. So I do relaxing and nothing times and let it sink in whether I feel it or not...

The Prayers..........
The Muslim observes his Prayers to show devotion and obedience to Allah, because Prayer is one of the greatest forms of worship that Allah likes His servants to offer.

To thank Him for creating us in the best form of creation.

Because He has guided us to the Deen (Complete way of Life, Religion) of Islam.

Prayer is a chance for a Muslim to express to his Lord whatever he feels and needs through Divine Words of Allah i.e. the Qur'an.

To remember his Lord and not forget His commands amid life's pre-occupations.

To ask Allah, The Exalted, to give him aid and continuous guidance in the darkness of life.

To strengthen love and fear of Allah in the Muslim's heart so that he might remain sticking to the Right Path of Islam, and its laws and manners.

Gaining good rewards from Allah and having our sins forgiven.

To rejoice when he finds himself on the Last Day pleased with the great reward allotted to him in the Gardens of Bliss.

Prayer is a unique training and developmental program which, if well and devotedly performed, can achieve for Muslims many valuable physical, ethical and spiritual gains such as cleanliness, health, order, punctuality, brotherhood, equality, social consolidation,… etc.
