I would hope that no religion, even my own, would ever be forced upon anyone or deemed the "right one"

I don't think that would work very well. I'm a Christian and I don't think a country should make a national religion and force it down citizens throats. If they want become a Christian that's their choice and not have to be forced to. Once a religion has been established in a country I feel that many people will just deny it more, since its forced, defeating the purpose of it, and, cause some serious problems that could lead to a civil war. I feel "my" religion should be put above others in America because our founders came over here for the purpose of religious freedom (Christianity) and that our country was established as a Christian state.

This is a great question, gratvol! I think Christianity shouldn't be the national religion because not everyone believes in christ. Should Islam be the national language since they want us 2 give up our religion? We wouldn't like it so why should Christianity be a national religion? I am Christian and as a Christian, christ as taught us 2 let things be. If we change the religion, it would be a chaotic situation for the entire world. It would be worse than fighting iraq and Pakistan. It would make it look as though we force people into believing in something that they know and feel doesn't exist.

I'm a Christian and even though I wish everyone would also become Christian, I would NOT want my beliefs or anyone else's for that matter to become the national religion. Because when you obligate people to follow a religion, it is followed out of a sense of duty rather than because your heart is in it.

For instance, take a look at what happened down in Latin America. Many countries became Roman Catholic, but continued to practice their own religion under the guise of being Roman Catholic. Forcing a national religion onto anyone defeats the purpose.

Religion, especially Chrisitanity, is to be from the heart.

No!!! One of the great things about this country is a person has the right to believe or not believe as they want. It should stay that way now and always. I would not want Christianity of any other religion to become the national religion.

One of the strengths of our Nation and constitution is freedom OF Religion (not FREEDOM FROM Religion). There are so many different churches and denominations that I feel it would be far more divisive to adopt a national religion and certainly would not be in the vision of the framers of the Constitution however I cannot believe in any way that the framers of our Constitution would agree and condone the things being done to Religion and Christianity today in the name of that Freedom of Religion clause.

Our strength is in diversity and freedoms but our protection is through the hand of God and His favoritism upon our nation as a nation that respects and praises God as God.

I live by faith and the truth I know. I believe if everyone in the world would believe that God sent His Son to this earth to die on the cross and pay all of "our" sin debt, then rose from death to accend to Heaven to prepare a place for us and is coming again...."soon" to get us and until then we should all be helping eachother the best we can, stop being so jealous, hating, raping, killing, lieing, steeling, ect. and start getting on our knees more and praying this world would be a more peaceful world. However, we know that this isn't going to happen. However, there are individuals and churches that are trying very hard to promote and teach about Christ and to live better and have a better world. But, the bible has predicted things to happen that has happened, among other things that aren't so good that is going to happen. If you want to call everyone a "christian" that believes in Christ and what come with it, and then label us "christians" then I would say Christanity should be our national religion and as far as I know it is but satan is trying his best to break it down.

Making it the national religion would be forcing Christianity on people.... and christianity does not work that way... it would be just like Islam then.... It is a faith in which the beliver gets to choose to believe or not... it is not forced. That's what makes it so different.

No, if people do not come to know and love God by their own free will, there is no merit in that. While I wish everyone would convert to my religion, I want them to do it for all the right reasons in their heart. I have many friends of many other faiths, and I know that God loves them too.
