Have you had a girl friend confess her feelings for you? What did you do?

I don't know what to do! We're very close friends. Been friends for 5 years now. I can even say she's my best friend, maybe. She KNOWS me. Even knows things about me I don't know about myself. She's a good friend! But she confessed. Last night. We ended the conversation by agreeing that we'll just forget it, as if it never happened. I said I could do it, and would want to. She said she'll try. But now, I'm not sure if I can do it. And I'm tempted to avoid her.

Prefer responses from fellow Christians. But wouldn't mind if you're not.

i freaked when my female friend told me. wasn't so much her, but more of WHAT she said that freaked me out. anyhoo, if you don't dig her you don't?????? just be casual and still friendly and try not to overly avoid her. she's quite vulnerable and you pretty much shot her down by telling her or agreeing that you'd both just forget about it. put yourself in her place, how would you feel? you'd probably feel like crap I'm guessing. My guess is that she'll probably want to avoid YOU since things didn't pan out. otherwise, hang out every once in awhile just to keep the friendship going. if you don't care then just go ahead and avoid her. You want to be a man about things then have the courage to tell her to her face just like she told you about her feelings for you. Don't be a pansy and just runaway and forget about it. unless you want to that is.

Why would a response from an atheist or Muslim be any less valid? Do I spy a bigot? Really, you aren't going to be able to forget it. Why don't you love her enough in return to sacrifice a Friday night and actually go out with her? You may not be attracted to her now, but if you aren't involved, perhaps you should give her a chance as a date rather than a friend.

difficult one.

if she is a friend, treat her as such and don't do anything differently that you normally would. this will ONLY make things very awkward for the both of you. she likes you (has a crush on you) whatever..but she is not going to DIE if she doens't have you. I know the guilt that must be swarming inside you because someone has such deep feelings for you and you do not reciprocate. it is very difficult to tell them that you don't feel the same way about them ESPECIALLY when she knows so much about you. I mean, you must feel a little "naked" right now. like she knows your deepest secrets and she loves you all the more for all those things.

Bottom Line: Just be her friend

Don't throw away a Friendship because she likes you and don't run from her because of it
Just tell her where you stand and that you only want a friendship nothing more

but if you like her as much as she likes you then least try it out

Just forget about it and treat her as a friend. Tell her your not thinking of courting untill you are older, have a house, can support yourself etc.

dont ditch her...shes seems like a really cool person who might have just been in a weird mood that night. i wouldnt abandon a good friendship just because she likes you more than you like her. whatever you do dont hook up with her because that will make the whole situation infinately worse.
