I cannot pass a judgment like that. If people feel good and have faith, so be it.
I personally believe in researching, examining and questioning things.

I guess I would not take any preacher at his word unless he could back it up with the Bible. If that is the Book you are talking about then you don't need to be ignorant or blissfully ignorant.

I found a great free on line Bible university and am learning more and more every day. Enough that I have the knowledge to question my preacher and have some very interesting talks. I think he's beginning to find me a pain so I may have to go to another church soon. You can't have a layperson telling you what she thought was wrong with your sermon every week. LOL! I'm one of those people that have to find the answers myself.

Doesn't sound much different than any collage lecture or course. Different books with tons of revisions in them (mistakes) Different preachers with many different motives (Professors) So would that make Doctors or Masters in any subject "Blissfully Ignorant?"

We Christians are guided by the Spirit of God and the bible to validate what is being preached. The bible stands historically perfect with hundreds of fulfilled prophecies and no revisions only translations. We speak one on one with the subject of the book. GOD himself.

God Bless ya!

Hmmm I hate questions like this because everyone forms opinions from what they take in from their environment. This includes listening to others speak/preach/rant/discuss, reading books, media, family, etc....

I think that we accept what is formed in us from what influences. It is not blissful ignorace when you hear someone "preach" and actually take it to heart. Look at self-help speakers and people who are changed... are they blissfully ignorant when they hear Dr. Phil talk about weight loss and do what he says and loose weight? Are people who read sceientific journal and believe that excercise helps reduce chances of heart disease ignorant because they picked up reading material?

I am not saying some people are not blissfully ignorant... just why choose the word Preacher? I grew up in a christian family and I am not a christian now... but I do know that my parents and sister are not blissfully ignorant.. they just chose what they wished to pursue and they are happy for the most part. But to say they are ignorant of that is ignorance on the part of the question.

Yes.

You should never just accept anything someone or something tells you. The bible backs that up too. Study to show thyself approved rightly dividing the word of God. If you accept anything told you to, then yes you are ignorant and lazy. Find out for yourself, Get into the Word and let God speak to you. And if and when you find a preacher that lines up with the Word of God, that is great, But dont just be led blindly. If you are a true Christian walking with God, God will show you.

I would say some are ignorant. You can't only accept what is "told" to you or what "you read in a book". You need to search for the truth for yourself. However, some people (preachers) have studied Gods word and/or learned more about the truth and what some says is the truth.

Please click this link and read about Christians in some parts of the world today, who simply accept the Bible, and try to live out out what it teaches.

They are neither blissful, nor ignorant.

PS Sorry I am answering so many of your questions tonight. YA for some reason hasn't let me ask questions for 3 days, so the only way I can "think" along a single theme (the way I would be if reading answers to one of my questions) is to find a questioner who seems to be asking consecutive questions that follow a theme.

I think so. I wont accept anything from the "Bible" untill I have read it for myselt. You don't know if they are telling you the truth. For example I bet you have heard the quote "Cleanlyness if close to Godlyness" right? Wronge it doesnt exsiest in the Bible. Jesus was actually 2 years old playing at his mothers knee when the wise men found him in Luke. I think you get the picture do your homework you wont be sorry.

Yes, the same as those who simply accept what is told to them in a text book or by a scientist.

You may say that. Religion is, for some people, is a business; unlike the Catholic Church. The Pope heads, when he dies, another one, who is not related to him by affinity will replace him UNLIKE other sects which is "family owned". You get what i mean?
>>>the preacher will read scriptures which are out of context to the congregation just to "LORD OVER" his flock...<<<
