I love the US and my neighbors who represent the best of all nations. The poem the New Colossus was inscribed on the Statue of Liberty in 1903 and reads:
Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!
The US has through the promise of freedom and the opportunity of self determination allowed its people to develop their potential and in doing so lead the world in technological and economic strength. No where else on the planet is there a greater opportunity to raise a family in comfort and security. Where every citizen is ENTITLED to a TOTALLY FREE education through 12'th grade and with a bit of effort a college level education affordable to all. Where health care is unparalled in quality and availability. Finally Americans have for generations sent their children anywhere in the world, where tyrants and despots have oppressed a people, to spill their blood in the name of humanity, often without thanks or acknowledgement. I am proud to be an American and proud of every other American regardless of any difference of opinion we may have because it is America that unites us and our differences that make us the greatest nation on earth. 9/11 taught us many things about the American people the most important being that we will unite with one voice dispite differences when we face significant challenges just like the family we are. Oh and one other thing, it is only in America that you can inspire a child by saying you can be anything you want to be when you grow up - you could be the president of the most poweful nation on earth, you could be the President of the United States of America. I look forward to our troops returning safely so that the devisive issues dominating our discourse can be quieted.

Whoever gave you the thumbs down is a dumbass.

I love U.S. because it's the place where I was born and raised. This is the place where I have my fondess memories and this is the best country on the face of the earth. We are the greatest. I don't care what anyone else says. I know we are. There are many, many reasons I love America. As a woman, I don't have to wear a burka or cover my face. I have freedom. I go wherever I choose and do whatever I choose. Nobody can stop me. I say what I want to say. How could anyone hate America?

I love it cuz I've lived somewhere else; I've been tear gassed and cussed at; had to defend my country all over the world and I'd keep doing it. USA rocks!! Warts and all. We have so much freedom - so very much it's mind numbing but so many people don't appreciate it. Go visit the beaches in France...go see the Vietnam memorial in DC...who helped communism fall? who witnessed the Berlin Wall falling? Who liberated the French? Who nuked the Japanese when push came to shove? I am in total love with my country - even with all the past mistakes and future mistakes we're sure to make! We are an accepting people who allow 'pure hard work' to pay off - to dream big and for the most part gov't steps out of your way. The country, the seasons, the landscape, the culture, the people, the universities, the healthcare, the leadership, the think-tanks, the courage to stand up to oppressors around the world!

Land of oppurtunity. A rich man can die poor, and a poor man can die rich. there is no caste system like in other countries. there is potential for vertical movement. If you have the gumption, you can do anything. Too many try to rely on the government for everything, and end up in the poor house, because thats not how the system was designed to allow people to succeed. Its your personal responsibility and spirit that makes this country great, it spurs innovation and entrepeneurship. In communist countries, youre born poor and you die poor, while the oligarchs reep the benefits of your labor. In America, especially with tax cuts, you reep the benefits of your labor, and since we have more social programs than PBS, even some lazy americans and illegals benefit from your hard work too.
