The Image of God means in it's correct contect the Spiritual image, not physical image.
That is more or less basic kindergarten Christianity.

When we say MEN, that refers both to men and women. Thus, God made men (all gender) in HIS own image and likeness.

In the image of our creator...means,
That Adam and Eve have the same attributes as the creator has...Love, wisdom, power and justice.
The animals don't have these qualities.
Our creator uses them in perfect harmony.
Man today missuses them because of the sin he has inherited going all the way back to Adam and Eve.
Eve was given to man as a helper a compliment for him
to start the population in filling the earth.
