OSUT means One Station Unit Training, that means you goto Basic Training and then right off to your AIT(Advanced Individual Training). Usually you don't get any breaks unless your training around a holiday like Easter or Christmas. Don't expect much free time during Basic Training, perhaps a few day passes or an overnight pass, this depends on your commander. If you leave close enough to your family you may be able to see them or they may come to visit you when allowed. I wish you luck and thanks for your future service.

I had OSUT at Fort Jackson two years ago. When I went through, my parents came to visit me on family day and then next day I shipped to AIT. I didn't see them that day. (By the way AIT is just like Basic, you just go to school during the day instead of roll through the dirt.) The weekend followed and I got to spend that with my family.
The thing about leaving every weekend is only partly true. Those are called passes. The procedures for that depend COMPLETELY on your company's policy. In mine, the second weekend you didn't get to go anywhere. If you behaved, you got to go around post for next few weekends and then the last two weekends you got to off-post. There's no smoking or drinking while in AIT wether your of age or not.
The thing about two weeks off is call Exodus. It only happens during Christmastime. If you're in Basic or AIT during Christmastime training stops a week and a half before Christmas and you go home on leave. But you have to come back after and you have to pay for your ticket home.
During basic, you don't get to see your family until family day: the day before graduation. In AIT if you family is within driving distance, you can probably see them every weekend, but you yourself can't go outside of.. I want to say 250 miles of post.
I hope I helped!

it really depends how long your training is, my OSUT was 17 weeks total, we got several day passes on the weekends and one over night pass, all of the day passes you have to stay on post, the overnight you can go a specified distance (not far at all) there is a family day where family members are welcome to come see you. the only way you would get two weeks off is if you were in training during Christmas exodus. if someone wanted to come see you when you were on pass, that is okay, but they cant go back to your barracks or anything, you would have to meet them somewhere. if you have any more questions email me. i was an MP.

it's been a while since i went, but as far as i know things haven't really changed. during basic you get your 8 weeks of training and at the end family can visit for graduation. then it's off to your AIT. after completion of the advanced training is when most people take some leave time.

Whats your MOS? Anyways it depends on your MOS, But I can tell you that your weekend once you finished the basic traing you will get a pass. Like I said it depends on your MOS, there are MOS that are 3 weeks long. But one thing I can tell you is that the Training has to have a website that will expain all of these. If you are just worried about thanksgiving and Christmas. Well, thanksgiving ususally they wont give you a pass unless is a weekend. But Christmas, you will get to go home, it is called Exodus leave, usually for like 2 weeks. Until the 2nd. But its is hard to tell because I dont know the MOS.

You will not get leave or see anyone for the eight weeks you are in basic. You get to see your family graduation day, then you leave for your AIT, there you will in most cases get week pass.
