I'm not quite sure if i'm right or not, but isn't marriage in a church by a priest a catholic ceremony? So if some people don't believe in God, how can vow before him to honour and love someone else for the rest of their lives? Isn't that an insult to God, to take part in his ceremony but not believe in him?

Well, I for one am Jewish, I believe in God, and I hope someday to get married. Jesus as I am sure you know, was also a practicing Jew. And as for Catholics, I have known many and been to more than a few of their wedding ceremonies. I think they would all be QUITE shocked to hear that they don't believe in God, and/or that they are not Christians. They may worship differently than you do, but they most certainly believe in God.
Finally, one of my closest friends is STAYING married (when I wish she would not) because of her deep faith in God and because of the vows she made before him. She's Catholic by the way.
I suggest you study a little theology. Learn something about other faiths. I think you'll find that there are MANY ways to worship the same God, and you will also find that there are many members of each group who think that THEY are the only ones who have it right. (So much for a loving, benevolent God.)

Of course... why shouldnt non Christians get married? They may not believe in God in the same fashion, but there are many that respect Christian beliefs, and believe in God also. You can get married as a non christian and still invite God into your marriage.

Marriage is a commitment between two people, and the church ceremony recognizes the importance of God, and the need for those people to have God as a part of their marriage. The ceremony itself is the participants asking God for his involvement.

For Catholics, the marriage ceremony is a sacrament, which makes it different from other Christian religions. It is one of 7 sacraments that a catholic may have in their lives, and it is important in their life with the church to have their marriage pperformed by a priest.

Uh ... you must not know anything about the laws of the USA. Marriage is a legal action, authorized by local and state governments. If you want to, you can have a ceremony performed in a church or by a pastor, but that ceremony has no legal significance. The official government marriage license is what makes you married, not some silly words by a pastor. And since there is no God, the rest of your question makes no sense.

There are so many ways to have marriage vows and not have a Christian ceremony. A Judge can perform the ceremony. You don't have to go to the courthouse. A Judge can perform a marriage ceremony any where you choose. The Captain of a Crews Ship is able to perform marriage ceremonies too.

Huh?

Jews get married in synagogues, Hindus get married in temples, etc. It is what their holy place is called. They are blessed by their priests or rabbis or imams.

Christianity is not the only religion in the world nor the only one that has a god. Try learning about other religions. It may open your eyes to the world around you and make you seem less uneducated or ignorant.

Why do Christians who take the vow in front of "god", turn around and get divorced? Isn't that wrong? Isn't that an insult to god? You can twist it however you want but it is still an insult.

Marriage has to be sanctioned by the State to be legal and valid, irrespective of religion.

How can a non believer make a vow to God in whom he does not know are believes in. Hummmmm?
Well yes dear non believers still need to get married and they can do it in Church because maybe just maybe they may some how become a believer because they made a vow to God to love their wife.
God loves use all believers and non believers alike.

Marriage doesn't have to be done in a church and there are people who do it in a church to please their parents or the parents of their spouse. Many people have weddings with a Justice of the Peace. It's a formality. Love can happen if someone has faith in God or not. It's an emotional thing between two people. I know people who love each other very much who haven't been married.

The Catholic churches in my neighborhood will not marry you if you do not belong to their church. That is understandable. I can't speak for churches in other areas but that's how it's done here.

People like you honestly make me sick.

Question:

Why is it that you think that YOUR religion is the only one that matters? keep in mind now, there are over three hundred and fifty OTHER religions, many of which were around millions of years BEFORE anyone even THOUGHT of Jesus Christ.

What you're basically saying is that anyone who's not Christian can not love and commit to another person. There ARE other methods of marriage, you do not have to specifically be married by a priest. Just go down to the courthouse and buy a marriage lisence.

Love is not based on religion. I have many friends who are Christian, and love their partners to a point where they would give their lives for them. Heh. They can't get married.

And it's so easy to lie about your religion, it's funny.

Marriage is marriage. it's a commitment to love and treasure the one you love for the rest of your life.

Learn to be more open-minded. You might learn better values and morals.

You do not have to be a Christian to believe in God. People were getting married way before there was even a Catholic church. Read your bible. All of the bible was written before there was a Catholic church. No one in the old testament was a Christian.
