Everyone loves lasagna! Make up a lasagna ahead of time, with the baking instructions on it on a post-it. Bring a gift basket or bag with things for the new mom. A good shower gel, foot soak, lotion and some after shower body spray are always welcome. Baby will get plenty of gifts, and not much will be needed at this time. You could always throw in a pack of diapers. Photo frames are a good gift, as well, for all those new baby pics they will want to show off!!! Another great idea is a gift certificate to a photography studio for some shots of the new family!

So often people buy things for the baby that the mother already has. Treat mom with a gift for herself, a spa, a one time cleaning lady to help with those chores mom doesn't have time to do, a babysitter and dinner with her hubby, a massage or pedicure while you watch the baby, or anything else that she is interested it. I I know when I had my baby, I was overwhelmed with all that needed to be done. My favorite gift was a gift certificate to a local resturant and a massage for me.

Wheres her fav. place to go out and eat? get something from there. as for a great baby gift go to walmart and get a plastic tub the kinds with lids fill it with all kids of stuff baby needs -lotion,baby powder, baby oil, wipes, a blanket, maybe a outfit or 2 and a outfit for when baby is older like 6 months or so, bottles , there are just all kinds of things you can put in it and after mom can use the tub for babys dirty clothes or toys when child is older it like a gift that keeps giving. I gave these to all my girls and they loved them. Hope this helps

Try a little goodie bag with things all babies need--Mylicon drops, thermometer, pacifier that dispenses medicine, diaper rash cream, the little thing that holds the baby's head in place in the car seat, baby Tylenol, that sort of thing. And just call the Mom up and let her know that you'd like to get dinner for her that day...she can tell you what she feels up to eating.

If your going to buy her cloths buy big. like 6 months. The little suckers are like weeds. Another good one might be a gift certificat for a resteraunts so that she can get out and not worrie about dinner. Another thing i loved was my breast feeding pillow, even if shes not breast feeding it can be used for so many different uses. from a support for her neck when she gets up for midnight feedings. and when the baby gets older for them to help support sitting. and there is the old stand by diapers they arent the flashyest gift but there practicle and they poop like no tomorrow

Bring her diapers. It is very practical and as a father of 5, I know how much diapers are needed!!! Make sure you get them in newborn size.

Get the mom some bath stuff so she can soak and feel good or you could get a card and put a piece of paper in there that say it is good for one evening of babysitting when she needs it. And either make or buy a really soft fuzzy blanket. My kids all have one and they love them. I have always made a fuzzy blanket for our friends when they had babies and they loved it.

The mom will love if you bring diapers. Believe me it makes a ton of difference. Of all the gifts I got when my daughter was born I appreciated the diapers and formula the best.
