What do you mean by paint. The finish on metal woods? You must not use headcovers it that is the case. I'm not sure I understand what is chipping

I have been working at a golf course for 20 years now and I have never seen a painted golf club...maybe it's time to buy some new ones?

Repaint them what's the problem. Avoid Blue & Green it clashes with the grass. Red is good. Use an enamel for crisper sound on contact, and retouch the clubs often to maintain a nice shine.
