Absolutely not.
I lived on a diet of 80% fruit, 20% vegetables, and a small piece of cheese for over a year. Maintained constant weight, ran 30-40 kilometers a week and had good chloresterol, triglycerides, blood pressure, etc. My diet is still 50% fruit and has been for over 20 years.
There are people who eat nothing but fruit, called fruitarians. So long as they are careful to get their B-12 and omega-3 fatty acids I believe a fruitarian diet (including a variety of tropical and other fruits) is adequate to maintain good health. That includes protein. Oranges and bananas for example, provide about 1 gram of protein each. The strongest animals, like elephants, horses and gorillas get adequate protein from grass and foliage. Their digestive system are no better than ours when it comes to extracting protein from food. Only some bacteria and fungi can convert carbohydrates or fat to protein.
There is no evidence of any harm caused by fruit. The guy who said you should be careful not to get too much potassium is just plain wrong. The body excretes potassium and retains sodium. This is because our ancestors got plenty of potassium in their diet and very little sodium. Humans also lost the ability to manufacture Vitamin C in their bodies. All this indicates our ancestors ate a diet high in fruit and vegetables. Other indicators of our bodies being designed for a vegetarian diet include our "sweet tooth", lack of tearing teeth and long intestines.
Nor does a diet high in fruit lead to diabetes. As someone else said the sugar in fruit, fructose, is very easily absorbed by the digestive system. Because it is eaten with fibre there is no sugar rush. Further, if the fruit is eaten raw, as it should be, the enzymes in the fruit help digest it before it even reaches the pancreas.
Never mind, you are nowhere near a high fruit intake. With 4 apples a day you wouldn't even be getting the recommended daily intake. Like most Westerners you would probably be getting inadequate potassium, B-vitamins and missing out on the thousands of micro-nutrients the scientists are still discovering.
For a good unbiased source on nutrition visit www.cspinet.org. They are an independent non-profit group and they accept no advertising. They are not against eating meat or other animal foods. Generally they follow the nutritional guidelines recommended by the Institute of Medicine, which recommends a diet high in fruit and vegetables.
If you are interested you could also do internet searches for fruitarian, raw food, vegetarian and vegan. This could open up a whole new world for you.
Bon apetit!

Eating 3 or 4 apples (or pieces of fruit) a day isn´t eating a lot of fruit --- it´s what you should be eating anyway, or pretty close.
Eating too many fruits (like 8 or 15) for several days could increase your blood sugar level and perhaps cause diabetes. The best thing to do would be for you to consult a nutritionist.

Fruits contain fructose, a simple sugar that is easily broken down by the body system, so it shouldn't be a problem. It is a problem however if you eat high calorie fruits like Durian, you might get fat if you consumate too much of them at a regular basis. However, eating lots of fruits will help your bowel movements and also provide you with essential vitamins, especially vitamin c which is beneficial to your skin and overall well being. Having good bowel movements also mean having your system flushed regularly, reducing the duration the toxic material our body produces stays in our body.
By all means, eat more fruit! Especially those with stronger anti-oxidant properties!

fruit and vegetables are always good for you. some are even negative calorie foods that can even help you lose weight! but there is a problem with the fruit. However, if you eat to much high sugar fruits such as bananas, you can end up gaining weight. But your talking about apples. I wouldn't think apples are a "high" sugar fruit, so your safe and good to go!

No. Doctors recommend at least 5 servings of fruit and/or veg a day. Fruits and high in fibre, natural sugars and vitamins and minerals and are often reffered to as 'nature's candy'. Although you may want to consider chewing a sugar-gum occasionally if your fruit consumption is high as the sugars can harm your teeth slightly.

Depends on which type of fruits. Apples are ok as they are high in fibres. My friend's grandma ate 7 tomatoes every day and she's still very much alive & healthy at age 87.

I've heard of these and other fruits and vegetables referred to as negative calorie foods, because supposedly, it takes the body as many or more calories to burn the food than they actually contain. I don't know if I necessarily believe that or not, but that's what I've heard.
Either way, apples are great food, but too much of anything to the exclusion of any other whole food group is not balanced.

Eating too much of anything can hurt you, but 3-4 apples per day is not going to be a problem. They are a great snack, low in calories and don't have too much sugar.
