OMG, are you serious? Why in this day and age do we still break things down into black and white? To answer your question, a heathen is someone who doesn't believe in God, therefore black or white, its all the same. I know that black churches, in particular pentecostal my religion, use that word a lot to describe people going to hell and that I have associated strong condemnation for heathens since a young age as a result. I do not know if this is the case in white churches, but it could account for a differentiation of the meaning between the two cultures. Now stop segregation people, heaven and hell will hold us all (if you believe in these places) regardless of color

The term heathen refers to a religious difference. That is some one who doesn't believe what you believe is a heathen. Those of the christian faith refer to the Wicca as heathen, the Wicca simply refer to the christians as self deluded. The mind set which would come up with such a take on the question is racist. Racist mindsets are concerned, overly concerned with black, white and what ever supposed differences. The big problem is cultural. Try to get up from a table without burping in some cultures and see if those people ever invite you back let alone talk to you. Those cultures are white but since they are different from yous you probably have questions about them to.

I guess you have the answer by now but more importantly why would you want to call a black person a heathen or did you just hear it somewhere? I am curious why the racial inquiry? At any rate, I suppose it is good to ask rather than remain ignorant. No, it is not more racist to call a black person a heathen as a heathen is a person who does not adhere to any known religion and does not believe in God or practice good morals. I would not call an Atheist a heathen because they have moral values.

You have received the answer about race in the posts above. But, I want to clarify some misconceptions about a heathen. A heathen is a person who either hasn't yet been exposed to the God of the Bible or just hasn't accepted it. A heathen can also be an uncivilized person without any religion.

It is NOT a person who has heard about God and rejected the message.

according to Websters dictionary a heathen is:
1 : an unconverted member of a people or nation that does not acknowledge the God of the Bible
2 : an uncivilized or irreligious person

I think it would be very offensove to a black person to be called a heathen because of the way that their ancestors were stolen from their homes and their families. They were called heathens by the white men who took them.

A heathen is someone that does not recognize God. Like a pagan or uncivilized person. Black people are often religious, so they tend to find it offensive.

Ester always called Fred Sanford a heathen!

A Heathen is not a racial slur at all. It just means that this person does not adhere to a religion and/or their deity. So to call a black/white/yellow/orange or any colored person a Heathen only means that he or she does not represent the rules of the religion he or she claims to be a part of.

A heathen is any non-believer in the Bible and also can be used to describe an uncivilized person so, technically, race or skin color has nothing to do with it.
If you assume that because someone is black that he or she can't possibly be Christian, then you're racially stereotyping and that's racist.

a heathen has very little if nothing to do with the color of a person's skin more about their religious point of view. see defintion below.

Heathen is from Old English hæðen "not Christian or Jewish", (c.f. Old Norse heiðinn). Historically, the term was probably influenced by Gothic haiþi "dwelling on the heath", appearing as haiþno in Ulfilas' bible as "gentile woman," (translating the Greek in Mark 7:26). This translation probably influenced by Latin paganus, "country dweller", or it was chosen because of its similarity to the Greek ethne, "gentile". It has even been suggested that Gothic haiþi is not related to "heath" at all, but rather a loan from Armenian hethanos, itself loaned from Greek ethnos
