I am about 20 yrs old and have very very thin and stringy hair, I am looking for an affordable method of adding thickness and volume to my hair. I am looking for any kind of affordable method that has worked for someone, such as vitamins, pills, shampoos, creams, surgery etc.

well there are volumizing shampoo, conditioners, cremes out there but another way that works more long term is to actualyl dye your hair. I was watching the E! channel the other day and a stylist mentioned this technique. Aparently, a lot of celebrities do this to had volume to their hair. You can dye your hair the same color if you like it the way it is.

You can try some of these:
1. Blow dry your hair while bent at the waist, with your head upside down (blowing it in the opposite direction of how it lays will help somewhat with volume).
2. A body wave or dye job may help- a little ( and only a little)damage to the hair can make your hair look fuller.
3. Keeping hair clean is essential- oils can easily weight it down.
4. Try one of the many volumizing shampoos on the market, and stay away from conditioners if you can ( the waxes and oils in condnitioner can weight it down a lot)
5. If you use hair styling products, a mousee is the lightest and most volumizing of all.

Honestly, damage it. I ordinarily wouldn't condone that but damage is free and I'm not saying damage it to where it looks bad. Just rough it up a little. Damaged hair holds a style longer and because the hair is roughed up, it appears thicker. I'm a hair stylist. I promise. It works and it's okay. Use heat styling, blow dryers, curling irons, let the wind get it, don't protect it with thermal products. Vitamins and other pills don't work. Shampoos...use something light and rinse it thoroughly. Use what is appropriate for your hair, if it's dry you need moisture, etc. Don't use what isn't appropriate. Creams are heavy and weight the hair down. Surgery? For hair? No. You want plugs? Hair is dead. They don't perform surgery on dead tissue. Hope this helps. At least it's honest, man.

Volumizing shampoo and conditioner.....followed up with root lifter. Apply root lifter to damp hair, blow dry with head down and hair flipped over. I have the same problem.
