Im mexican,african american, native american, italian, french, and puerto rican. On my birth certificate my parents marked black african- american, but my whole life ive for some reason took to a mexican heritage regardless of everything else!

I have ALWAYS checked the "other" box myself...I'm French,English, Irish, Swedish, Chippewa, and Cherokee... I have actually been called back for job interviews because they wanted to see what I looked like. (because I checked other for race) My son is everything I am PLUS African American, and more indian (not sure of the type) He says he's "Halfrikan American" You usually pick or emulate the closest to your family members or society. For example to look at my son you would say he is black but the black kids at school call him "white boy" because he "talks white" so go figure...I guess however you're comfortable is what you should identify with... i am also mixed heritages but i am under black african american also but i am proud of all of them so i take up on all of them i was also so born in panama so i am also proud of that my father was in the army . people want you to chose something but you don't i am happy with whatever i am i.you don't have to pick one but if you want to do it than that's fine am happy for you but you are just what you are and so am i .

If mexican appeals most to you, then continue with it. But it can't hurt to have little things in your life that you can identify with each heritage.
