Computers have changed the way we do a lot of things. But I suspect most people use specialized tax software, like TurboTax or Quicken, to do their taxes, rather than just use a spreadsheet, as those programs have more functionality.

The benefit to such tax software is that it can have tax information 'built in' , can be updated yearly, insures calculations are correct; and allows for returns to be e-filed.
