Different times. They are ruminants, and eat several times a day. Deer are really more nocturnal than they are day creatures, especially if they have moonlight. They do a lot of feeding in the evening and in the very early morning before it's light when they can. They tend to sleep in the daytime. They are pretty active around sunrise and sunset getting to places for the night or day.

In areas where deer are unmolested, they eat anytime they want.

In areas where they have been molested by hunters, they tend to lay up in tall brush during the day and eat/forage from about one hour after dark until one hour before sunrise. When they feel safe, they will often come out in the afternoon for brief periods. At first light they are moving back toward their resting hideaways.

Deer are considered "browsers" which means they a little bit of everything (leaves, acorns, apples, corn, soy beans, etc.) and eat throughout the day and night. During a full moon, deer move and feed at night and bed down most of the day.
