It doesn't take much contribution money to throw a few uniforms together, the rifles are mainly furnished by each individual member. Most groups also have atleast one two and a half ton truck, and the richer militias can afford lightly armored vehicles (but they need quite a few wealthy benefactors).

The minute men are either retired or are working at the ranches along the Mexican/American border. It doesn't take much to fund a militia. $20 in army surplus uniform, a $400 rifle, $200 in ammo and a $8,000 used truck.

I believe that for the Michigan Militia, each "soldier", so to speak, buys his own gear, uniform, weapon, and all. The entire militia probably solicits contributions or dues from members and sympathizers to pay for other stuff, and then they get money from selling the "Militia Babes" calendar thing.
By the way, I think that calendar is possibly one of the weirdest things I have ever heard of.

The Michigan militia was self funded, they used to meet at a restaurant about 3 miles from my house. Bunch of kooks is what it amounted to and the media made them out to be bad.

They are volunteers. They donate their own time and resources. Some of them get private donations from sympathetic individuals or corporations and institiues.
Other movements and organizations could learn from these people. Not everything needs to be funded by taxpayers.
