It's the concepts of god that don't exist - the concepts that say there's a theistic being that made the universe, the earth and everything and set it all up and knows and supports our individuality. Can't be true with the predator/prey mechanism (e.g. tiger needs to kill scared-sh!tless animals to live), birth defects, age, disease, decay, death, loss of loved ones, etc. Man sees this and realizes that everything is meaningless and then creates various thought systems (religious and non) to give life meaning; for the religious, he makes a god that fits his ego -- a god that rewards, punishes, and guarantees survival of the 'self' for eternity if one obeys.
On the other hand, people like Jesus and the Buddha come along, have a direct experience of 'God' (ultimate reality), and then come back and tell the good news. The good news is that all of this stuff (individuals, the world, etc.) is an illusion and that 'God' 'knows' us only in our natural state (non-individuals, non-bodies, completely One and where this world's illusion fades). In Jesus' case, the concept of unconditional love and non-inviduality is too much so people changed the message and killed the messenger.
But even these words I wrote are just mumbo-jumbo - yet another silly set of concepts that aren't real -- unless you use these things to get to the same experience they did. That's what the Buddha (and Jesus, before his message was changed) emphasize: go and find out for yourself. For an excellent description, read '3 Pillars of Zen' (or, if you're ok with christian symbols but used in a different way, read 'A Course in Miracles' - this one is very very symbolic and, at its core, is saying the same thing as Zen so ... be aware to avoid taking the symbols literally).

Only God could loves us enough to let us make our own choices. God certainly could prevent evil, but He gave us a gift called free will. Each of us have the choice to believe in Him or not believe. The evil that's out there is not because of God - it's because of choices people make.
You say you've never seen God - I see Him every day. Look outside and be amazed at the beauty of it all. Flowers - sunshine - birds singing. Look in the face of a newborn baby. Look in the face of a friend just at the point where you desperately needed one. Pay attention to the way a stranger smiles at you on a day when you desperately needed a smile. And you will, too, have 'seen' God.
As a parent, I understand God more and more. He loves us so much, just like I do my own children, that no matter what we do - He will always forgive - always love. Yes the world can be crazy, but there is one thing that never changes and you can always count on and you cannot say that about anything or anyone other than God.

If he always got involved with out lives, and stopped such things like war and terrorist acts, then life would be too perfect, and no one wants a truly perfect life.
You must check out The Truman Show if you havnt already seen it.
If not, its about a man who is stuck in this huge dome, and has lived inside all his life. Its just like Big Brother, yet he doesnt know hes being watched. Everything is fake, and so perfect. Yet he gets bored of this life, and it starts to play on him that somehting is wrong. The "creater" of the show is in teh moon and controls everything that happens around Truman, making sure everything is good.
This film really showed me that if "God" was to get involved, just liek the creater did in the film, we would not like it at all. Free will would disappear, and we would just be a bunch of his playing figures, abiding by his every rule. What kind of life would that be!?!
Im glad to have my free will.
So maybe he does exist, but just lets us get on with things, isnt that what we were brought to this world for, t live a life...our life. So why should he get involved. If people decide to destroy other lives, then so be it, they'll just regret it later.
I dont know whether there is a God, or other being, but im sure we'll find out when we pass away whether "He" really does exist or not.

I understand your feelings. We all have felt this way at some time or another.
But it is important to understand that God (or Allah, or The Great I Am or whatever name you choose) is not "out there"..... God is WITHIN. God is within every single living think on this planet. You have the devine power of God IN YOU.
If you want proof, think of a time when you were filled with love or joy. Watch a baby, or a child and see the innocence and the power of their devine-ness. Watch a sunset....really see the colors and the magnificence of it. Look all around you at the miracle of nature! Sure science has taught us a lot about how nature works.....BUT where did it come from?
Think about the miracle of life.....the miracle that our planet is situated EXACTLY in a spot where life can be sustained.
That, my friend, is God.

I will try to answer your question, which seems to be more then just "Does God exist", because you yourself say you already believe that some kind of God exists. You seem to be asking "If God exists why the heck does he let all these evil and bad things happen?" Well, he does it on purpose, for his GOOD and perfect purpose. What is God's good and perfect purpose? His purpose is that we all have an experience of evil, so that we will know what it is, and more importantly, that we might know what good is! You cannot know good without knowing evil, and you cannot know evil without having an actual experience of evil. This is true of all knowledge, as all knowledge is a contrast. For example, if i have been deaf all my life, then i cannot know what sound is. Someone can try to describe it to me, but i still can't really know what sound is unless i have had an actual experience of it. Same goes for all other knowledge one can posses. So evil serves a GOOD purpose. In learning what evil is, we should HATE it, just as God does. Once we hate it, we willingly resist it, which creates the wonderful qualities in us, like honesty, kindness, [enter good quality here]. Ultimately once evil has finished serving it's purpose, God will destroy it completly leaving only good, and we will all live happily ever after (no chit). But, there is a lot of chit that has to happen before we get to bliss. Continue to seek God/truth will all your heart, and be happy knowing that none of us will perish (Jesus died for ALL). What i have just said is fully scriptual, although i have not quoted scriptures for the sake of brevity.

I feel like this at times also.I'm at the stage in life ryt now where i dont know what to believe. I feel like I believe in something but not sure what. I aint never had no proof of god but it worries me slightly that i dont really believe incase there is one!Just what is his job if he cant stop the evil? Avid believers will always come back with an answer but I could do with a sign myself right now that he is there and that everything will be ok in the end.I agree with you that all this sh1t shouldn't have happened...babies being blown up and sh1t.what god allows this?but then i think..maybe his understanding and logic is beyond me and this all has to happen for a reason that i cant comprehend...oh i could go on for hours so i'll stop there and wish you well but dont get so wound up about things mate...if it's out of your hands dont let it stress you!

God didn't pick for 911 to happen, he gave us free will. God is real, I wish people would quit blaming him for evil that is satan's thing!
I understand that we don't get all the answers, I try to be good to others and leave the world a better place, I try to be loving and kind and accept I don't have all the answers. Above all I feel the love in my heart and my conscious that God is there and that evil is horrific. I choose to believe and I have truly scene God's love, on childrens faces and all over. Though this is your chose and I respect that, don't blame God for evil! Because we don't understand it all doesn't mean that God is at blame!
(Sorry too I am just sick of defending him)

Yes, He does exist!! Who do you think wakes us up everyday? Who created this world? Man didn't!! Read the book of Matthew and Revelation and I hope you understand why things happen the way they do. Please don't say things like that you 'll be in danger of hellfire. Just know that He loves you and only wants you to seek Him and give some of your time to Him. The devil will do ANYTHING to make you think otherwise!!When you get scared or down to your last everything who do you call on? When your bills get behind and you're in danger of having nowhere to go , who do you call on? GOD! And somehow someway things always turn out for the better don't they? Believe me when I tell you when you call on GOD in the nameof JESUS HE WILL answer your prayers!! Jesus loves you sweetie ,and all He wants is what's good for you, stop letting the devil control you!!! Get on your knees and have a talk with Him and I guarantee things in your life will start getting better!! God bless sweetie!!

God gave man a freewill and man choose to disobey rather than obey. God does not like it when we do all the things that you mentioned above. In fact it makes him very sad. He weeps when we kill each other and he doesn't let these things just happen.
It is all man, we choose to do wrong and that is because God gave us freewill. We can also choose to follow him or not and that is also because of our freewill.
The proof for God is all around you just look at the beautiful creation that he made. If, as some people believe, it just happened, then there is no way that there could be life on other planets. It is not possible for it to have just happened, there had to be someone who created all of this and us also.
God loves you and sent his sone Jesus to die for you. If you would just believe in him he would show you that he exists by helping you in all sorts of ways.
Good Luck in Your Search

It's really up to the individual. I am a witch, so I don't believe in God in the traditional sense. But, like you, I believe in a higher spiritual being, that does not control our every action, nor does it have control over the planet's existence or destruction.
