did anyone ever get haircuts at home when younger from your mum or dad? Did they use scissors or clippers and did the cape you too? If you got caped what did the use on you?

haha yup until i was like fifteen. my mom usually draped a towel around my shoulders and used scissors. on my brother she had bought a razor thing at the beauty supply store.

My neighbour buzzed my fringe off when I was about 8 and too this day I have a spiked up fringe that I hate and need to change.

I must have been around 10 years old and my dad decided to cut my hair (using scissors and plastic cape) resulting in a fringe stretching from one ear to the other. Needless to say it was the last time...

Yeah, and it was never a good idea,my mom used scissors and draped a towel around my shoulders. It never looked good and once she screwed up my bangs really bad, I had bang hair on the left side about an inch long or shorter,it seemed really close to my scalp. Unfortunately I have other hair horror stories too.

Towel, scissors and in the shape of a really bad basin cut, thank god those days are gone, i have a new basin now lol

I would have to say getting haircuts at home are fine only if your mom is an expert, because we have 7 children in my family and my mom does a great job to our hair and we love her cutting our hair. She went to cosmotology school and she learned and i would think before getting your parents to cut your hair because they might have never learned how to cut hair.

My Grandma did it many times with me, when I was younger! and once she had cut it in a bad way and when I went to the hairdresser's, he said to me never to do it again because he had to cut it so short and I had the '' A la garcon'' !!!!

My mum used to cellotape my hair down and then cut along the edge .... bizarre , but it never looked that bad !
