I'd even like to beam their lights back to them, but I know that would be a legal boo boo!

I FOUND A SIMPLE SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. GO TO BABIES R US AND THEY SELL A REAR WINDOW SUN SHIELD THAT HANGS BY SUCTION CUPS AND IS PARTIALLY TRANSPARENT FROM THE INSIDE WHICH I FOUND TO ACTUALLY DIM DOWN BRIGHT HEADLIGHTS AT NIGHT YET NOT REDUCE YOUR VISIBILTY DRIVING. GOODLUCK

My 12 gauge shotgun does a great job of dimming headlights.
Unfortunately it is illegal to use it.

If they get too close, I tap the brakes a couple of times to get their attention. If they don't back off I slow down until they pass. Some people are habitual tailgaters and there is nothing you can do to make them back off other than call 911 and hope a cop can get there in time to see them.

A friend of mine will run off on the shoulder and throw gravel at them, but some people are already borderline roadragers so I don't recommend that.
THEY might have a 12 gauge shotgun too.

Flip the mirror over to its night setting. If you can move the outside mirrors (mine are electric) turn them down while you have the tailgater on your bumper. I generally will slow down a bit or pull off to let these rude drivers pass.
