Cats are very intelligent even though they seem not so some times. They choose where they want to be if they can. The cat may have been at another home and left yours to go back. It either could not find its way back or decided your home was better. It may be that someone from another area dumped it and you found it. It may have wanted to go home and couldn't. I have had cats around for over 60 years and watch them and learn from them. If you pay attention they do talk to you. Not just the noisy meowing. If you try to understand them then they don't have to make so much noise. Yes get the cat vaccinated and fixed. Cats do make very good company for people. There is one lying beside this computer watching me write this. He was a stray but very young when I got him. Five years now and a good friend. The other cat is sitting on top of the fence post watching birds.

Did you ever stop to think that maybe the cat already has a home. Maybe you should put an ad in the paper and see if anyone has been missing a cat. My cat went out 3 mths. ago and never came home. I always wonder if someone may have picked him up and just kept him. I miss him so bad and he was well taken care of but everytime someone opened the door he would get out although I didn't want him out at all. Maybe the cat you found is afraid to go out because something may have happened to him when he was out. Maybe someone hurt him. Good luck!!

She desperately yearned for freedom again, but once she got a taste of it, she realized that eating garbage and sleeping under a dirty bush wasn't nearly as awesome as being in your comfy home with plenty of good food. She wised up, I guess:) Don't question it, just be glad she did!
If you're going to keep her, have her spayed and vaccinated.
And good luck!

She's a stray so she probably has the need to go outside. Have her fixed and that will calm her right down. She'll lose that desire to go out. Like mine, she'll become a fabulous window sill sitter!

No real answer here. Keep the cat or send it to a rescue organization please. If you choose to keep it, get it fixed and vaccinated in case it does go out again.

She's learned the dangers of being outside in a hurry. Good for her! Please keep her in and safe; also get her spayed asap, so that's not an issue!

A fight or a hell of a scare from a dog. Kitty knows. They take care of #1.
