Beef is cow. Pork is pig. My favorite term is chicken fried steak. Which has nothing to do with chickens. Its the breading on it. Steak can be from a variety of animals. I believe steak refers to the cut of the meat. There are pork steaks and beef steaks and probably many more then I can think of. In some cultures dog is a meat. So I suppose coyote could be too. Not in my world!

Most steaks are from a steer (beef) although Steak is a cut from the animal so you may have a beef steak, buffalo (aka bison) pork loin and even Tuna steak loin.
So you see steak can be almost anything you want it to be. For purposes here I would use my favorite and that would be a Ribeye Steak topped with sauteed mushrooms

Steak come from steers, male cattle. Cows are female and don't make good steak. Their meat is tough. Cow meat is usually made into hamburger. The young steers are taken out of the herd and usually fattened in feed lots until they get large enough to slaughter. Your brother is ornery!

a steak is just a cut of meat, you could have tuna steaks or deer steak, rib eye and sirloin are cow though.
