Actually, Lamictal is weight neutral, so it shouldn't cause weight gain, but Risperdal can. And yes, if you work out and eat heathfully, that will certainly help. Also, please speak with your doctor/psychiatrist/therapist if you feel you are gaining too much, too quickly, as he/she may need to adjust or change your medication.

The risperdone unfortunately is famous for unwanted weight gain.But if you do those two things you mentioned, you shouldn't gain too much weight. My son takes lamictal but it hasn't caused any weight gain. He put on 40 lbs. with the risperdone cause all he wanted to do is eat and sleep. We took him off of it. Ask your doctor about Abilify.
