I sell fords......ford mustangs don't offer automatic headlights. if they did you would turn the headlight switch to the left for automatic and right for manual.
I hope you didn't get a salesperson newby. If you did have some fun with him and go back and ask him how to use the automatics and watch the other salespeople laugh at him.

The first question that comes to mind is "does the car have automatic headlights?"
If it does, are you turning them on? Check your owners manual, and if you can not make them work, check with the dealer about warranty repair!

As people said, are you sure you have automatic headlights?
I looked in the 06 owners manual online and could find nothing about automatic headlights... Daytime running lamps can be equipped but no automatic headlights apparently

i have a 2006 mustang convertible and i asked the salesman about automatic lights He told me that it was not an option..I sure don't know why not, but that's just the way it is i guess...

Take it back to the dealer and tell him to fix it or else. There are lemon laws in effect that would mean he has to refund the full purchase price of the car, if he doesn't fix it immediately.
