They do for making the mistake of not obeying me in the first place. I feel good when I know that I'm standing up and taking responsibility for my children's upbringing.

I think the parents feel pretty bad, because of the sad look the kids may give you. But, stay strong and stand by your punishment. If you do not your child will continue to do the same thing.

We never punished our kids, we disciplined them. If they were disobedient, they had consequences, that varied according to what they had done. I think we feel badly for them, but they probably felt worse than we did. We could look at it as building good character traits, but all they saw was the immediate pain or loss of privilege. We had three and it was always hardest the first three years. After that, they pretty much were over the learning stage as far as what they were supposed to do. The hardest part is being consistent.

I know that I feel a hundred times worse putting my kids on punishment than I did when my parents punished me as a kid.

I always feel bad for punishing her, but I tell myself, she needs to learn right from wrong and this is the only way. Now that she's getting in her teen years I don't want her to walk all over me later and think she can get away with whatever. So slowly I'm reassuring myself that punishments are that bad

depends on what the punishment is, what its for and who is involved.. the punishment is meant to be worse for the kid, but if the kid begs not to be punished and acts really bad then the parent can feel guilty and sometimes let them off of punishment, which can be bad for the kid, but it does all depend on how each of them feel

The kids do be cause they know they did something to get put there. As they are where ever you put them then they will think and figure it out and learn not to do that again.
