Absolutely. Not everyone though. Criminals with arecord should be deported. Hard working people that truly value this country should be give some type of Amnesty.

Under what circumstances. For who. On what conditions. Based on what criteria. And do you really mean amnesty, or will their criminal records record the immigration violation.

Do you treat the person who has been here 20 years, never been arrested, held down a steady job, even paid taxes, the same as someone who came in last year, and has been convicted of several crimes since then? Do you treat the person who thought they had followed the rules 15 years ago, the same as the person who knew they were breaking the rules?

People talk about "amnesty" broadly, ignoring that there are many different proposals that answer the above questions in very different ways. Just like people throw the word "illegal" around. Do you realize that everyone who has ever driven faster than the speed limit is an 'illegal'? Should we throw them all in jail?

When we ignore important distinctions and deal broadly with abstract concepts utterly unrelated to the facts, the words become lost. The net result is that it makes the discussion meaningless.

Give it to corygraph. However, any children born to illegals not covered by amnesty should not be considered citizens. I know it seems harsh but too many children are being separated from family and that is the worst thing you can do to a child.

coragryph got it right, but perhaps answered too broadly.

if you're asking about amnesty for illegal aliens, the answer is no; however, whether a person here not legally amounts to a crime ought not be a matter of strict liability.

as coragryph indicated, some persons may have in good faith believed that they weren't doing anything wrong, and may have since honored all the rules, regulations, laws (etc.) required of citizens; obviously, they lacked the mens rea to commit a crime, and ought not be penalized as though they had committed a crime.

however, anyone in the USA knowing the rules and yet employing any illegal immigrant ought to be PNGd and required to forfeit all assets. also, persons having wilfully flouted US immigration policy ought to be PNGd and required to forfeit all assets.

re-entry into the USA of such a person having been PNGd ought to be regarded as an act of terrorism, and penalized accordingly.

NO: Do you think anybody who wants should simply be able to CUT in line? That's basically what ILLEGALS want. They wanna JUMP right to the front of the line. They don't wanna go through the waiting process or the Hassle. It's BS and should NEVER be allowed under any circumstances. Just like you wouldn't allow someone to jump in line in front of you at the movies ect. All Amnesty would do is REWARD criminal activity.

In a word, 'no'. We've supported Mexico literally for decades, this is getting foolish. A country that can pepper the countryside with luxury resorts and hotels(see link) can do a little extra to support and employ its' own citizens. Where's the money REALLY going, here? Hmmm....if you can build a luxury resort, you can build schools and hospitals, and roads, and and and. Time for Mexico to pull its' socks up, and become more self-supporting.

When pigs fly

When hell freezes over

When men arrive here who are from other planets....

May be then we might begin to consider the possibility of amnesty.

yes i think we should grant amnesty to any illegal alien that can prove he is not a criminal...oh wait by definition they are criminals. so yeah deport them all there should be no reward for breaking our laws wether it is for 2 days or 2 decades
