You should wait ~24 hours to avoid dry socket. Trust me - it's much worse than the cravings.

Dry socket is not pleasant. However, if the spot is still covered from the tooth removal and the area is moist, light it up. Otherwise, I would suggest 48 hours.

I say quit forever. But I have the feeling you won't. Atleast wait long enough for your mouth to heal. By that I mean all the sockets to close up completely. Your choice, your health. Think about it.

Just quit that bad habit altogether!! Besides all kinds of health reasons think about wrinkles!!! I could have cared less about cancer when I quit in 1976, but when I heard that the smoke that floats around your face gave you wrinkles, honey, I gave that **** up in a weekend!

Why do you ask? Are you worried about your health? If so, then don't smoke ever again!

(although, if you really want one...then you can just stuff a bunch of cotton over the holes and go have one.)
