first of all, the gears on my mountain bike got tangled up. then someones fixed it, but it only works on gear 1. the bike looks normal but i dont know why this is happenening?

It sounds like whoever untangled your gears didn't readjust the deralleur afterwords. But there could still be other things that are still not right. If in dought, have a bike shop or a serious rider who is also a great do-it-yourselfer look at it. Maybe some parts need replacing that weren't noticed after the initial "untangling".

Look at the rear derailure hanger. It should point straight to the ground and straight ahead. In other words it needs to be in the same plane as the main triangle of the frame. Shops have a tool for measuring this and fixing it. It's an eay job.

In the events you mentioned it is very possible that the chain was twisted and that the chainrings were bent. If either or both of these are true you gear train will never work well or at all!

While you're at the shop getting all of this checked have them replace the cables and housing for both derailures. Also - make sure the front derailure is at the proper angle - roughly parallel with the large chainring, and set the height so that it is 2 mm above the large chainring as it swings over it on it's way to putting the chain on the big ring - you can use your hands for this.

This will work if all of the above are in correct order.

your bike is cheap it did not happen to me, go to a shop and have it fixed.
