Unfortunately you aren't too young.

I used to date a young lady that had IBS really bad. She was 22 at the time. I really felt sorry for her because she continually had problems and I know that she was always uncomfortable and from time to time embarrassed because of some of the side effects she had with it.

I tried to make her feel as good about it as she possibly could but it wasn't easy. She had difficulty accepting the fact that it didn't really bother me as much as she thought it should.

Many years later she is still bothered by the condition. I guess it is something that you learn to control but it never goes away. At least that is my impression of it.

I wish you luck. Keep in mind, there are worse things you could be suffering from, and as long as you keep that in mind you can deal with this issue.

Good luck.

Of course we feel you are too young to have any kind of medical problems, but unfortunately you're not. Learn as much as you can about it. Try diet changes, the IBS supplement found in drug stores and anything else you can find, just don't do it all at the same time so that you know what helps and what doesn't.

My granddaughter was diagnosed when she was 13. Like any other teenager, she doesn't always follow her treatmeant plan and pays a terrible price. Follow your plan the best way you can.
