Believers will tell you what atheists are like, but since the only common trait about most atheists is that they do their own thinking and don't succumb to superstitious prattle, they are all individualists and you cannot classify them as you can believers following some specific religious cult.

It's true, the only truly universal atheist trait is the atheism itself, or rather "without belief in a god or gods". There are no atheist rituals, atheist landmarks, atheist holidays, exclusively atheist characteristics. Some are quite liberal, some are moderate, some are conservative. It's not fair to say ALL atheists believe in evolution or the big bang or global warming or lax morality because those stereotypes simply don't hold water.

I haven't always been a Christian and I've known some atheists in my time. I don't make any "silly" assumptions about them, I know they don't believe in God or give any credit to Him. Those are the only things that I know for sure and those aren't "silly assumptions."
Christians do their own thinking, I can't speak for everyone, but we are encouraged to do this, and also ask for help when we need it, and this is a good thing.
Try to not "classify" all the believers, as we are all individuals too.

Atheism: rejection of belief in God or gods (for your information rrbowker2002, and I spelt it right!). If you're not sure then you're agnostic - 'God's existance cannot be proved conclusively but we'll hedge our bets' sort of thing.

Back to the question: everyone is an individual, some choose to have certain beliefs, others choose not to. Some choose different interpretaions of the same religious text, others choose the same interpretation of different religious text (extremist/conformist). Atheism has been around for centuries, and is as much a cult as any religion.

One thing's for sure - us atheists are gonna be more p***ed off if we're wrong than the believers will be if they're wrong!

I don't assume anything about anyone. I know many atheists - and all of them are different. Some are great human beings who help others and some are hateful to people they haven't met. You have proven by your question and supporting statements that you judge believers based on what you don't know. You insulted my beliefs and called Christianity a cult - yet you tell me not to judge you. I have felt the power and presence of the Lord (something I cannot explain to someone who hasn't experienced it). I know He is real. I believe in the Lord whole heartily. Why should you judge that as superstition. Accept me for who I am and what I believe. You don't have to join me, but you certainly don't need to insult me either.

The same can be said when an atheist makes an assumption about a christian.
I'm a Christian and many of my friends are atheists. I don't classify people based on stereotypes and on how a few of them have treated me.

So are you saying all non atheists can't think for themselves?
If you are an independent thinker why do you share a belief that is held by many?
No one makes assumptions about you.
Why do you feel as if you are above other's beliefs, so as to call them a "cult"
You are free to believe what you want to believe.

Because people like to be biased, and judge others before they get to know them. I'm bisexual, and I don't believe in god. Right there, that will make several people assume they know what I'm like.

When people find that other people do not fall into their self-made catagories, it makes them uncomfortable and afraid. So they tend to be biased, for example, Christians vs Athiests. Or Satanists.

If that made sense.

People make silly assumptions about everything and anybody. It certainly isn't specific to people commenting on atheists.

I've seen a lot of superstitious atheists.

It is wrong to assume that ALL athiests believe there isn't a god. Such half-baked stereotypes have no place in the modern era.
