Any med can have side effects... I personally lost 20 pounds on Prozac but I think that is because I stopped eating out of depression... Look at your schedule and see if you have added food to life now that you feel better... All meds of this category tend to have efects on weight and labito etc... If this one doesn't work for you try another one... Let the MD know.... Effexor isn't suppsoed to have all the weight issues of Prozac....

I didn't on Prozac but once when I was on Paxil I gained 50 lbs.
I have heard that prozac is not as bad so I didn't gain anymore with it. After I got off Paxil I lost all the weight I had gained.

When I was on Prozac, I lost weight. Weight loss is actually one of the common side effects of Prozac.

Common adverse effects include akathisia, rage, and anxiety, which is possibly associated with an interaction of fluoxetine with the pineal gland, in addition to restlessness and insomnia. Weight loss, trembling, weakness, skin rash, anorgasmia, itching, and a decrease in sexual drive, have also been reported. It has been reported to cause subsequent weight gain.

Like other SSRIs, an overdose of fluoxetine or combining it with other antidepressants can lead to serotonin syndrome.

Studies and media reports have linked Prozac with increased incidences of homicide, suicide and reckless behavior.
