Hi Jeff...there is already a breed that is only a black cat. It's called a Bombay. http://www.fanciers.com/breed-faqs/bombay-faq.html
Unfortunately, it's such a shame the domestic short-haired black cats can't have their own status like the Bombay.

Before I answer......why do people who don't like cats even bother coming here? Sheesh.
Bombays are their own breed:) But I agree, black cats....there's just somethin' about 'em:) But then, I don't think "Domestic short hair" is a very good term for ANY cat, lol.

Yes, Satanic short hair sounds good for some. I rescued 3 black cats some years ago and the mother is definately mean as a junkyard dog!!! Also, to sittin' on the fence--have I got a girlfriend for your cat! My female is "rockless" as well!

That opens up a whole new debate; Afro-Cats. ***** Cat, Black Cat, any number of groups could get offended, let us enumerate, there are Chocolate-Blacks, Blue-Blacks, but hey it is true that 'Domestic Short Haired' is lame - oh. I tell everyone that I have a Wizzard or Witch's Cat because traditionally Black Cats dabble in such activities - - - my PUMA is a dream sender - - - thinking about it a bit more you would have to specify True-Black or Choco-Black or Blue-Black - - - my PUMA is more like Hershey's Special Dark - - - Peace.
PS Your Kitty is AWESOME - - - Puma says mrgnfrgnfrthth

cats should not be Identified by breed they are all mixed breeds, even the accepted breeds came from cross breeding of different cat types to achieve a desired color and or body shape!

I'll go with that. I have a white cat and am looking for a black cat pal for him. Then I will have Ebony and Ivory!

I agree, but they already are, in a way. Have you ever seen Bombays? They're always black, and really cool looking!
