My wife has a "Vitz" here in Japan that's what they call the Yaris (2 door) in Japan the 4 door Yaris is actually a diffent model here in Japan called the "Platz". She loves her car and it is very roomy and cute inside. One thing to keep in mind though is that this is Toyotas start out model. The Honda "Fit" is probably a better comparison, they havebeen out here in Japan for a while too. The Honda Civic has been around longer in the USA, and it is a little higher on the food chain so to speak. My friend has had one of those and they loved that! The Civic comes in a hybrid option that may be worth a look. Hybrids will cost you more, but with Tax breaks and the savings on fuel cost you'll make back your investment within about 3 years. Bottom line, both are great cars, test drive them all and see which you like best, and look for availble options. The Yaris 2 door doesn't offer much in theway of upgrades, but it's a great little card and my wife is considering buying one when we get back to the USA next year,,b ecause she loves hers here so much. If you keep up the scheduled service on the car, like oil changes, tune ups, belts & hoses you shouldn't have problems like the guy above posted. I have a Toyota here I beat to hell with work & it is just fine, very few problems. Hope this helps and Good Luck.

If your thinking about a Civic and if its going to be new, dont do it. The new civic are ugly. The Yaris are ugly too. Both cars are too small, well the civic is too small in the back and the yaris is just to small. I would go for a Corolla or Camry. If you seen the pictures online and like them, look at them personal. I had the same problem until i went to the dealership and didnt like neither of them. I would go to autos.yahoo.com and take a look around some other cars and now that the 07 models are coming out (some already did). If you are looking for a mid/full size vechicle, go with the Impala. Always good car and American made. But, its up to you, I dont think you should buy either or the cars.

They are not in the same class. The Civic is a step-up and, comparably equipped, will cost you $4-$5K more.

Also look into the Toyota Corolla. It is cheaper than the Civic, but in the same class. Look at the "S" model.
Yaris is a brand new model, so there may be some bugs. The Corolla is the best selling car in the world and Toyota has made them for 30 years.

Good luck.

Each car has it's strong points.

Overall, the Honda is a much better car IMHO. It certainly has won more awards.
I have owned a Civic and a Toyota. I currently drive a Chevy Cobalt SS and my wife drives a Nissan. I love my Cobalt!

Buy the Honda if you can afford it. I think you will be happier.

Toyotas and Hondas they are both good but stay on the safe side and buy a Toyota if you want your car stolen or broken into then buy a Honda.

I'd say the Yaris, Toyota is probably better in general than Honda. I got a 4WD Suzuki Ignis.

I love my Civic. It's been the most reliable car I've ever had. I highly recommend the Civic but make sure to get the EX model. It's the best.

I woul rather have the civic, but even more desirable to me would be a Ford Focus or a Mazda 3.

Get a great car and more for your money, buy a Mazda or Nissan, avoid a Mitsubishi like the plague.
