I am a good looking person who takes care of my appearance. And I get my share of compliments on my looks. But there is one type of compliment that is puzzling. The "you look like this famous person" comment. I have been getting this my entire adult life from girls and women. It started when I was about 17 when the girls said I looked like Campbell Scott (in the 90's movie Singles). As the years go by I have gotten Tom Hanks, Trent Reznor, Pete Sampras, Robert Downey Jr., Brad Paisley (had to google that name - no idea who he was), Jacob Dylan, and many many others. What does this mean? How do I respond? Are these women trying to compliment my looks, or do I just look like a lot of famous people?

Don't worry, I get the same thing. Take it as a compliment, but don't read too much into it. The names of the people you mentioned that I recognized are generally considered attractive, so you can take comfort in that. Contrary to popular opinion, though, a lot of times we just say what's on our minds.
If you happen to be striking a pose that causes me to think of someone famous, I might tell you. It doesn't necessarily mean that I'm flirting with you, it just means that it's something I noticed.
We are not as much into looks as guys are - conversation is much more interesting. If you have interest in the girl who made the comment, then you might ask her who people have told her she looks like, or try to come up with a name yourself. Or you could simply say, "Really? What makes you think that?" and boom, conversation started...
Otherwise, simply say "thanks" and go your merry way.

Hey, to me, I think it is a compliment! I know when I say that to people it means that I think they have certain features that are comparable or recognizalbe to a celebrity. The people you mentioned all have very good looking attributes to them, so they must be giving you a compliment and you also must be good looking! To respond, just say thank you. Take a compliment once in a while, it will fill you up with self esteem, which is very attractive! I don't think women like to say "You look hot" so they find hidden ways to say it. Saying you look like a famous person is one way. My overall answer is that it is a compliment, and a very good one!

I do that to people... you just have a good looking but generic enough faces that can fit all those nice looking men. it's a compliment AND a comment about the generalness of your face, but that is not a bad thing.
I've been told I look like various people.. I get a kick out of it.. I take it as a compliment that somebody bothered to look hard enough to think of it. I've been took, I look like a Debbie, Elenor... etc. Take a compliment and stop worrying about it.

wow a man with many faces! Yes I believe it is a compliment , but you know what...never comment on how you get that all the time. Just look surprised like it is the very first time you have ever been told that and say "You Think?" , then find a mirror or glass and try to see as you fiddle with your hair, and say.."I just don't see it," and smile. You'll turn her on with your modestness!

it's a compliment take it for what it's worth. It's better than having people tell you to go to hell and you are only saying hello.
