That's the strangest thing i've ever heard... At a "chain", every attempt is made to ensure it tastes the same, otherwise, they will not have that brand recognition - as in - you know what the frys will taste like before you go there.

In Canada and Europe and , well, everywhere but in the USA, the government regulates what additives and chemicals are put in the food. In Canada, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Hydrogenated Oils and MSG, and other synthetic chemicals are not allowed in the food, so the fast food chains have no choise but to use REAL ingredients, making their food taste more real, better, etc. In the USA however, the chains use any synthetic product they can to enhance the flavor of the food with out breaking the bank.

Canadians have a very delicate and sophisticated palate...they appreciate delicious and subtle tastes. Canadians don't have the love affair Americans have with excessive salt...Canadians don't love trans fats likes folks in the US. The most delicious soyburger I have ever eaten was in British Columbia years ago. It was simple soyburger but the wonderfully simple and delicate Canadian soy mayonnaise made it taste fabulous. That's all that was to this "burger"...a wonderful soyburger, delicious soy mayo and a fabulously simple bun with fresh sesame seeds...magnifique!

I've gone to Canada a few times... but I don't recall on what you suggest. Hmm... I do know that their McDonalds look cleaner there though. You could eat off their tables! Hmm... and their water is cleaner too. I don't know. Sorry I couldn't think of a straight answer.
