Lets evaluate this a bit further. Are you athletic, or over weight, or sweat a lot? The naval is sort of like a cavity, it collects things, like bacteria, perspiration, and even if your washing it frequently, are you then drying it out with a q-tip. The navel has tendencies to be moist, therefore try cleansing it with some soap and water, and drying completely with q-tip. If it remains with foul odor could have a yeast infection, not serious just unpleasant. If the above fails, I would consult my family practice Doctor, or a Doctor of Dermatology. Gee, hope this is of some benefit.

This smell is the times that you wear shirts, the dirty of the shirts stays at your belly button (like those small cloth balls that stays over) or anything else, also your sweat mixed takes this smell.
It mighty not disappear when you clean, It´s not so possible. But if you ever wear clean clothes, always take shower it might disappear.

It's from moisture from a: you getting out of the shower and not dring it or b: Sweat just keep it dry and damn keep your fingers out of it and you wouldn't know it smelled like poop!!

It's probably sweat. Wash & soap it everytime you take a shower.
