It's a question. I believe in everyone's freedom of speech (and more so than even Yahoo permits). Just wondering...

Yes, I didn't say what I believed in... did I?

Non-Believer in what? In what you believe in? Maybe it is you who is looking for something from people of other Religions? I mean, this forum is not labeled any particular religion... it's a place for discussion.

I understand how you feel. I actually come to this section to help people learn the truth about spiritual things, and hopefully guide them away from God and religion altogether so they can lead happier lives.

You should see some of the vulgar perverted sickening replies I receive from religious people, but then I understand that these people suffer from mental illness and lack of intelligence, and so, perhaps their behaviour, although irrational, has a rational explanation. I hope the following helps ease your pain and suffering.

Atheists are more intelligent than religious believers.

My own observation and analysis of the various posters on Yahoo Answers clearly reveals that Atheists are without any doubt, far more intelligent, thought provoking, and capable of holding sensible debate compared to their religious counterparts.

My private research studies indicate that religious people tend to be below average intelligence, and also have a tendency to be more violent than non-believers. This also seems to be supported by profiling various YA religious posters.

Science suggests that religion is a mental illness and that religious people act irrationally because they are genetically predisposed to the “religious or spiritual” gene. Statistics indicate that the higher your education, income, and intelligence, the more likely you are not to believe in a god.

In general terms, this summarises as Atheists are intelligent and religious people suffer from madness.

I believe religion causes much harm to there adherents. Here's why I think that:

1) religion causes more wars in the history of the earth than any other reason, resulting in death and extreme pain and harm to many.
2) religion divides people into separate groups, thus negating the fact that we are all humans.
3) religion is often used as an answer to many questions, and this leads to ignorance of the real answer.
4) religion uses threats of going to hell if you don't do as they say.
5) many religions require you to act in their best interests rather than in your own best interests.
6) religions are not based on any known fact.
7) religion provides a convenient excuse to promote ignorance over fact.
8) religion loves children, because they are very easy to brainwash into their way of thinking. That is wrong.
9) Individuals should make their own decisions based on what they see and observe, not what they are told by various religions.
10) religion is the cause of much ignorance, suffering, wasted lives, and yes, can even deny reproductive rights.

Is that enough? There are many more. If you want to hear more, just extend your time period for posting this question. You'll get an earfull.

I could go on and on...

In case you haven't noticed, this section is religion & spirituality. You can be spiritual wthout being a follower of a particular religion. I think religious studies and discussions are beneficial to believer and non-beleiver alike. How can you understand a culture without understanding the beliefs that shaped it? Understanding is the beginning of tolerance and I think the world could use a bit more of that, don't you?

I am here because I saw questions like this one come up on the main page of Yahoo Answers. I did not even look at this section until then. If you do not want us here, then stop asking/talking about us, that is the only reason I got lured here.

Why are you such a B_I itch about it? People are free to answer questions anywhere on the site, and often the answers the atheists give are more correct than the so-called religious people, since most atheists have actually read the books we are talking about, unlike most fundamentalists.

Jesus told us that we have a natural need for spirituality. Even the so-called agnostics and atheists can't deny that there is a void that needs to be filled with a belief in SOMETHING. The bad part is that the vast majority of "organized" religions only want you to obey and give them your money. Look and keep looking till you find one that lives by and teaches from the Bible and you will understand. Psalms 83:18 will give you a hint.

This is a great question! I give you 50,000 bonus point for asking it.

Take note of those above who admit to being trolls.

It's good to discuss topics like real people. What sucks is trolls and "potty talk." They have nothing to contribute. Until they do, don't reply to their posts. They will soon fade away.

I personally enjoy learning about people's religions and asking questions about them. Is that a crime? I thought the point was to ask quesitons and learn something. Am I not allowed to wonder why people believe what they do?
