i am allergic to beer, i.e. hives, sneezing, runny nose. i think its the hops. is there a pill to stop this?

I'm allergic to the barley in beer so I take a OTC antihistimine before drinking any beer. You have 3 options; take an antihistimine before-hand, switch to a good micro-brewed beer ( see if it helps), or get a list of the ingredients in the beer and visit an allergist to get tested for allergies.

It's more likely that you're allergic to the sulfites in the beer.
Does wine do the same to you ?

If it's the sulfites, you just have to be on your toes and make sure you get beer without sulfites. It's not easy, but it's not impossible. Just check the labels, or go to brew pubs and ask if they use sulfites.

You could try gluten-free beer. There's a brewing company called Ramapo Valley Brewery that makes it. I think they do mail order. It's also Kosher.

I am,too,it is the barley in the beer,only alcohol I can drink with no barley is white rum,vodka or tequilla,but,I quit drinking 9 years ago and don't miss it!
