You don't have to stay in Little Italy although hotels are located in adjacent SOHO, NOHO and Chinatown areas. You can walk the entire length of the feast in ONE day if you linger about, otherwise it takes you half a day. Most booths are redundant. I grew up there in Chinatown/Little Italy. Don't forget to go and light a candle at the San Gennaro church.
Since Manhattan is easily accessible by subway and bus, your hotel can even be in Brooklyn or Queens really. Anyway, check out www.hotels.com.

Type "list hotels for lower midtown manhattan" in your browser and hit go. Then go to each hotels website and check them out. This way you do not pay faily 25 to 50 dollar surcharge to expedia or one of those booking sites. You can ask your yahoo browser anything you want. Sometimes it doesn't understand you and you have to ask another way. Also ask.com answers this type of question.

Try: http://www.hotelsanddeals.com/hotelsbyaddress.html

You put in the address and they will provide all the hotels closest by mileage from the address you put in. You can also sort by cost, etc.
