At the age of 16, Mr Reaper left the wheat farm and moved to Hollywood to follow his dreams of becoming the most feared person on Earth. There he made a meager living waiting tables while training at Gold's Gym and studying Japanese swordsmanship. By the age of 26, he was 6'10", weighed 325 pounds, and could slice the wings off a flying gnat while blindfolded. In 1970, he signed an eternal contract with the most famous Hollywood producer in history...Satan. Mr. Reaper now goes by the stage name "Angel of Death" and makes appearances all over the world every day. He has been in many movies, and most recently made a cameo on the smash hit SouthPark.

Jesus told His Apostles the story of letting the weeds grow along with the wheat. Not to pull the weeds because some wheat might accidentally be pulled up with it. Let the rain fall on the good and evil all the same...for now.
At the harvest the wheat and chaff will be separated. I will store the wheat in my barn and I will burn the chaff (weeds).
To reap is to harvest and gather in the crop....or His people. It would seem that someone at some point in history equated this with death and thus the Grim Reaper came to be.

It actually came from the Great Harvest in Rev 14. Jesus is the reaper and He reaps the harvest from the Earth. However all the "grim" stuff and the skeleton with a sickle is human thinking.

In the middle ages daeth was personified as a mummified person walking about in a robe. I don't exacly when the the reaper came in but it makes a lot of sence cause he reaps the harvest. Possibly from the middle ages to cause then people got in the habit of mixing christianity with other religions like greek mythology. He is most likely a mixure of a bunch of reilgion's personification or death.

that's better. the image of the grim reaper exists only in agrarian communities, people who's lives were closely bound to the earth and the life cycles of the crops they relied on to survive. you can imagine that it wasn't hard to make the connection between what they did at harvest time and what happened to them at the moment of death. interesting to note that nomadic and hunter/gatherer peoples don't use this image. good question, tx

AKA "The Angel of Death". He is an angel of God, so from God or from Heaven. He does no evil. He only carries out God's Will.
