I am trying to do a genealogy book on DVD. There will be several text pages and a lot of pictures. I would like to have music playing in the background. I also would like to have a menu that will point to each chapter of the book and link page 1 to page 2 and so on.

I know that PowerPoint can make a slide show using text files and photos but I'm not sure about adding background music to it. You may want to try PowerPoint.

Not sure what you need. If you just want one large file, you can certainly use powerpoint. A big powerpoint file is probably too cumbersome to load. You should try make everything into web pages or html files, so you can do precisely what you want without loading everything at once.

PowerPoint can create a presentation, but you will need to click through it or put it on auto. There won't be any hyperlinks though. There are many Family Tree programs out there that you may want to look into. I'm sure there's something out there.
